THE IMMENSE CREATURE

The Immense Creature is a poetry collection that moves between the intimate and the cosmic, exploring love, memory, absence, displacement, and the mystery of human existence. Through surreal and unexpected imagery, José D. Elizondo creates a world where trains carry absent passengers, distant planets become places of longing, and ordinary moments open into vast imagined landscapes. The poems move freely between reality and illusion, between what is remembered and what may never have existed. At its center is the human desire to find connection across distance, time, and uncertainty. Personal experiences expand into something larger: a universe in which love, loneliness, memory, and imagination continually reshape one another. Written for an English-language readership, The Immense Creature offers a distinctive poetic voice that searches for the extraordinary within everyday life and for traces of human feeling within the immensity of the universe.
